According to N&O, a basketball player from UNC has been suspended for sexual misconduct.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) — New information has surfaced regarding a suspended University of North Carolina basketball player, as reported by The News & Observer.

According to the outlet, 21-year-old forward Zayden High was suspended due to a sexual misconduct violation but was not charged criminally.

The N&O reports that High allegedly recorded a sexual encounter with another student without her consent during the previous year. The student involved chose not to pursue criminal charges, opting instead to file a complaint with UNC’s Equal Opportunity and Compliance (EOC) Office to protect her identity, which might have been made public through a police investigation or court documents.

In late August, the EOC Office determined High had violated the university’s sexual misconduct policy. He was suspended for the fall semester and returned to campus in the spring.

The student told The News & Observer that she is “increasingly concerned” the university has not ensured High has met the full requirements of his disciplinary sanctions.

A UNC Athletics spokesperson told the N&O that High “did not play with, travel with, or participate in any official practices with the team during the 2024–25 season.”

Sam Coleman, High’s attorney during the EOC proceedings, did not respond to the N&O’s repeated requests for comment.

ABC11 has not independently confirmed the details in The News & Observer’s report.
