Former NBA Developer and Belmont Legend Brings Elite Experience to Durham
The Duke Blue Devils just made a high-impact move by adding Evan Bradds to Jon Scheyer’s coaching staff—an exciting hire that could help keep the Blue Devils at the pinnacle of college basketball.
Bradds, a well-respected name in both college and NBA circles, brings with him a rich basketball résumé. He’s worked under some of the game’s top minds, including Brad Stevens (Boston Celtics), Will Hardy (Utah Jazz), and Ime Udoka (Houston Rockets). Most recently, he served as the Utah Jazz’s Summer League head coach in 2023 and played a key role in player development in both Boston and Utah. His fingerprints are on the rise of NBA players such as Robert Williams, Grant Williams, Walker Kessler, and Collin Sexton.
But before his coaching rise, Bradds was a dominant player himself. At Belmont University, he became the program’s all-time leading scorer with 1,921 points and earned back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year honors. His leadership, work ethic, and basketball IQ made him a natural transition into coaching at the highest levels.
Now, Bradds brings that same intensity, vision, and developmental genius to Duke.
“I am honored to be joining the Duke basketball program and want to express my immense gratitude to Coach Scheyer for this opportunity,” said Bradds. “I’m looking forward to working alongside Coach Scheyer and the Duke team to help continue the long-standing tradition that is Duke Basketball.”
Jon Scheyer is equally thrilled with the hire.
“I’m excited to welcome Evan and his wife Mackenzie to Durham. Evan brings unbelievable basketball experience and a unique ability to build meaningful relationships with players—something that’s core to our culture. His experience, vision, and forward-thinking approach will help keep Duke at the forefront of college basketball. We’re excited for what’s ahead.”
With the college basketball landscape more competitive than ever, a hire like Bradds signals that Duke is serious about maintaining its powerhouse status. His track record developing NBA talent and building relationships with players should translate perfectly to the high-pressure environment of Cameron Indoor.
Duke fans—get ready. Evan Bradds might just be the secret weapon that elevates this next generation of Blue Devils into something special.
