Caleb Wilson Looks Poised to Shine in Chapel Hill
Caleb Wilson, the crown jewel of UNC’s 2025 recruiting class, is already turning heads. The five-star forward from Georgia, ranked No. 5 nationally by ESPN, showcased exactly why Tar Heel fans should be excited during the 2025 Jordan Brand Classic in Washington, D.C.
Wilson erupted for 28 points on an incredible 13-for-14 shooting performance, helping Team Air erase a 19-point halftime deficit en route to a 141–124 win over Team Flight. His second-half dominance was a major reason for the comeback, and he added six rebounds, a block, and a steal to his stat line.

While defense was in short supply in the exhibition, Wilson still managed to stand out among a star-studded cast that included top recruits like AJ Dybantsa, Nate Ament, and the Boozer twins. Some even argued that Wilson, not Kiyan Anthony (who scored 26), deserved MVP honors.
After the game, Wilson struck the right notes in his interview, speaking about his commitment to being a two-way player and his hopes of helping Carolina reach the 2026 Final Four in Indianapolis. Calling UNC “basketball heaven,” he also joked about trash talk with the Boozer twins and expressed big goals for the program:
“I feel like every year, we should be a top-five team in the country. That’s part of the reason I went to Carolina. I want to be a part of the group that restores that winning culture and that winning mentality.”
If his Jordan Brand Classic performance is any indication, Wilson could be a game-changer for the Tar Heels right out of the gate.
According to reports, the outgoing UNC basketball transfer is prepared to declare the winner.
UNC basketball’s one-and-done guard Ian Jackson could be just hours away from revealing his next move
Jackson, a former five-star recruit out of New York, entered the transfer portal two weeks ago. Since then, he’s remained one of the most sought-after uncommitted players in the country. Now, it appears his transfer decision is right around the corner.
According to recruiting insider Adam Zagoria, Jackson is expected to make his announcement on Monday afternoon. St. John’s is widely considered the favorite to land him, although Jackson has hinted at being close to a decision since last week.
During his freshman year at UNC, Jackson posted averages of 11.9 points and 2.7 rebounds in 23.8 minutes per game. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard started 12 of the Tar Heels’ 36 games and shot an efficient 45.6 percent from the field, 39.5 percent from deep, and 72.3 percent from the free-throw line.
As of now, Jackson hasn’t declared for the NBA Draft, but he’s projected by several outlets as a potential second-round pick. He’s currently ranked No. 8 overall in the transfer portal by 247Sports.
