The five-star Duke basketball freshman has shown that he can quickly alter the course of a game.
The No. 2-ranked Blue Devils (24-3, 15-1 ACC) will play Miami (6-21, 2-14 ACC) on the road at 7 p.m. ET Tuesday (ESPN) in an attempt to continue their four-game winning streak. Isaiah Evans has scored 17 points off the bench in back-to-back games for Jon Scheyer’s third Duke basketball team.
Scheyer stated, “Man, I could talk forever about Isaiah, how proud I am of him,” in his Monday ACC media teleconference. “He’s never hesitated to shoot in his life, you know. He is really certain in that.

However, as a result of his actions, he has developed into an exceptionally skilled defender. His ability to shift his feet, rebound, and position has all improved as a result of his efforts in the weight room.

“He’s a two-way, big-time wing,” Scheyer continued, referring to Evans, who now averages 7.0 points and 1.1 rebounds in just 13.3 minutes and shoots a team-high 45.8 percent from three-point range on 4.0 tries per game. I therefore have complete faith in his abilities while he’s in there.
“The crime seems obvious to me. However, his development on the defensive end has been, you know, truly amazing.
