According to insider Dean Jones, Liverpool are poised to buy a midfielder in the January transfer window
Liverpool have struggled this season after a period of dominance under Jurgen Klopp, with the midfield in particular drawing criticism as the core of the team ages and struggles with fitness.
The club’s urgency for a new midfielder has seen them prominently connected with Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham for a summer move, but Jones says that they will look to bring in another body during the transfer season.
Thiago and Naby Keita have been out with injuries, while James Milner, Jordan Henderson, and Fabinho are past their prime.
Jones stated on his Ranks FC Patreon that Liverpool expect a midfield arrival this month.
“I’ve been told that Liverpool will sign a midfielder this window since it’s such a problem,” he explained.
“With Van Dijk now out with an injury, there’s also the issue of Liverpool’s lack of leadership and experience.”
A high level of quality is required.
Liverpool may require three new midfielders in the coming window to totally reconstruct the team’s spine.
Bellingham is a summer team, but if they want to improve their chances of finishing in the top four, they’ll need some help now.
