A high level of quality is required.

Liverpool may require three new midfielders in the coming window to totally reconstruct the team’s spine.

Bellingham is a summer team, but if they want to improve their chances of finishing in the top four, they’ll need some help now.

Given their present aging midfield, Liverpool should keep the future in mind even when investing in this window, aiming to add younger players with growth potential but also leadership skills.

Neves would bring lots of leadership abilities and Premier League experience, but it remains to be seen whether Wolves will be willing to let a top player depart in the middle of the season.

Liverpool’s signing may either provide the squad a huge lift and help them secure Champions League football, as well as perhaps Bellingham, for next season, or he might assist spread the rot inside the team and continue the deterioration that has occurred this season.

It is thus a crucial signing for Klopp, and one that cannot go wrong.
