Cooper Flagg, a freshman at Duke, is making an impact on some of the top collegiate players in the country after spending the summer scrimmaging with—and impressing—some of the world’s best basketball players.
Flagg, 18, has swiftly established himself as a must-see television personality, thanks to his highlight-reel poster dunk and extraordinary ability to fill up stat sheets on a regular basis.
During an episode of his show Basketball & Beyond With Coach K, Mike Krzyzewski, a five-time national champion, named Flagg the “best player in the country.” Flagg has also piqued the interest of a Blue Devil legend.
Krzyzewski was particularly pleased with Flagg’s competitiveness and teamwork skills, as well as his remarkable offensive variety and passing ability.
Krzyzewski said, “He’s such a great teammate,” referring to his presence on the bench. He is thrilled for his teammates. He’s just eighteen, too. He is aware of all of this. He likes being with his group. He is not satisfied with his opponent. He’s a tough competitor. He is the nation’s best player.
With the exception of Auburn forward Johni Broome, no one is outperforming Flagg this season. Across 17 games, the Newport, Maine native has averaged 18.7 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists. On defense, he steals and blocks more than once every game.

Flagg also had the biggest performance of his early college basketball career, scoring 42 points in a victory over Notre Dame this week and shattering the ACC freshman scoring record.
The Duke phenomenon has already impressed Krzyzewski, who has spent his basketball coaching career surrounded by outstanding players.
Flagg will mark his New England return against Boston College, the Blue Devils’ next opponent.
