Ibrox bulletin: Rangers’ definitive response to the Nottingham Forest striker move as the clearout intensifies

After loaning Kieran Dowell to Birmingham, Rangers have resumed their January purge. The goal of Ibrox’s management is to make room in their team before the transfer deadline next week.

In addition to midfield fringeman Dowell and teammate Rabbi Matondo being told they were free to sign with other teams this month, Alex Lowry has already made the permanent move to Wycombe Wanderers.

After agreeing to a six-month stay at St Andrew’s, where he will join former Rangers teammates Ben Davies and Scott Wright, Dowell has now packed his bags. After bringing in Rafa Fernandes on loan from Lille, manager Philippe Clement has only added one player this month.

However, the Belgian manager has been informed that if he wishes to add any more players, he would need to free up money. Before that trade fell through last week, Matondo appeared to be headed to Coventry.

Nottingham Forest striker Emmanuel Dennis is one someone who will not be relocating to Ibrox.

According to speculations from down south, the City Ground star, who plays for both Leon Balogun and Cyriel Dessers in Nigeria, is a possible target for Ibrox.

However, according to Record Sport, the 27-year-old is probably returning to his old team, Watford, as Rangers has not yet gotten in touch with Ross Wilson, the former Light Blues sporting director who is currently in charge of Forest’s hiring.

Under former Celtic assistant manager Chris Davies, Dowell is attempting to restart his career at St Andrew’s. In 2023, when the former Gers manager began to restructure his team, the 27-year-old became Michael Beale’s first summer acquisition.

However, because he was unable to leave a lasting impression at Ibrox, the former Norwich star came to represent the unsuccessful recruitment strategy undertaken by Steven Gerrard’s former sidekick.

In 33 games, he only managed to score twice before leaving. With a team presently dominating England’s League One, the Scouser is looking for better fortune down south. He remarked, “I am eager to get started; it has gone by so quickly, but I spoke with Craig Gardner and Chris Davies, and they are both very ambitious.”

There is a great optimistic vibe about the area, and the guys are flying right now. I have a wonderful opportunity to play football and join a team that enjoys controlling the ball. Playing for clubs that like to control the ball has always been my thing, and after talking to the manager, I was totally convinced on his style of play.
