With injuries plaguing the core of the Ibrox defense, Rangers boss Philippe Clement is in dire need of defensive reinforcements.
Prior to the journey to Dundee, the Gers are awaiting a late injury check on Dujon Sterling, but they are aware that they will be without a number of important players because of injury concerns.
John Souttar will not be playing for the foreseeable future, while Jack Butland and James Tavernier are still out.
Even though the team’s most seasoned players are plagued by injury problems, Philippe Clement has disclosed that the team’s injury panic has negatively impacted Leon Balogun.
Leon Balogun has a little setback in his injury
Rangers gave in three bad goals in the Scottish Premiership match with Hibs, demonstrating a lack of toughness at the core of their defense.
Rangers have thus been eager to get Leon Balogun healthy again after the center-back hasn’t played since the 2-1 loss to St. Mirren.
However, the defender has experienced a hurdle in the Ibrox club’s enthusiasm to see the 36-year-old Nigerian veteran return.
Prior to the journey to Dens Park, Clement informed the media, “He got a little bit of a reaction out of that trying to get (Leon Balogun) back.”
“He will return soon, but his condition isn’t good enough to play tomorrow. He was irritated trying to prepare for that game.”
The Rangers manager would not disclose the timing for injuries.
The Rangers manager was also not in the mood to give in to rumors that James Tavernier or John Souttar would be in a similar predicament.
Both players are still on the same injury comeback schedule, according to Clement, who has ruled them out of this weekend’s Scottish Premiership visit to St Johnstone.
The Rangers manager is also certain that he will not be going public and putting his medical staff on trial, even though he has a timetable for all of his injured players to return.
Clement remarked, “I have a date, but as I previously stated, I don’t want to put a knife to my medical staff’s throat.”
“It doesn’t work that way to get players back if I put one date and tell all of you that if the player isn’t there on that date, then they’re doing a bad job.”
They won’t be gone for several months. Although Tav will undoubtedly recover more quickly than John, I don’t want to put undue strain on the medical team.
“Of course, I put pressure on them to return them as quickly as possible, and the club is working together to accomplish that.”
