Following Liverpool’s defeat on Sunday, Jurgen Klopp delivered an update on Andy Robertson and Harvey Elliott’s injuries.
Robertson was one of several players who benefited from a rare break due to the World Cup, and he played the full 90 minutes in Liverpool’s first two games back before being withdrawn in the third.
Just after the hour mark, the Scot went to the ground and summoned the physio, with Kostas Tsimikas already on the touchline, ready to be introduced.
Robertson stumbled around the field, and with the next game only three days away, his participation may have been called into question.
Elliott also walked out after suffering an ankle injury during the game, and Klopp spoke briefly about the pair on Friday night.
Fortunately, their chances of appearing in the trip to Brentford on Monday appear to be improving.
“Funnily enough, Harvey injured Robbo a little bit before the game,” the manager said.
“So in our warmup game he whacked him with a knee in the hip, so that’s a dead leg.
“He could play, but the muscle tightened and he couldn’t continue.
“And Harvey received a knock, which is fairly unpleasant, but when you watched the situation back it was evident that it’s quite painful. But, I believe, that’s all.”
At this point, both should be considered doubts for Brentford, who are also missing James Milner, Roberto Firmino, and Curtis Jones, as well as Luis Diaz and Diogo Jota.
Meanwhile, Fabinho missed Friday’s win owing to his wife coming into labor, and it’s unknown whether he’ll be back on Monday.
