Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on his squad’s injured players ahead of the next Europa League match against Galatasaray on Thursday evening
Tottenham’s injury list is rising.
Spurs have been reasonably fortunate with injuries this season, especially when contrasted to the horrific injury crisis that ruined Postecoglou’s first season in charge.
However, several players have since been added to Tottenham’s injury list, forcing Postecoglou to rotate his team more than he would have preferred.
Wilson Odobert and Djed Spence have been out for some time, but Micky van de Ven has lately joined them, having suffered a hamstring strain early in the Carabao Cup triumph over Manchester City last week.
Then, in Sunday’s annihilation of Aston Villa, Cristian Romero left early in the second half with a foot injury, and Richarlison was substituted on and off after only 20 minutes due to a hamstring injury.
Meanwhile, Heung-min Son’s fitness has been a big topic over the last month or so, with the Spurs captain coming in and out of the team and unable to play 90 minutes.
Ange Postecoglou’s Injury Update
In his most recent news conference (via Football.London), Postecoglou was asked which players will be absent due to injuries for tomorrow night’s game against Galatasaray.
He said: “Richy strained his hamstring over the weekend. He’ll be gone for a while. Romero, nothing too serious; still a chance for the weekend.
“Timo Werner has a minor groin injury, so he did not travel, and Mikey Moore has a virus, so he stayed at home. Everyone else who was fit ought to be available.”
The Galatasaray game is an unusual situation for Spurs.
In many aspects, Ange Postecoglou would definitely prefer a full-strength team for this game against Galatasaray, and it will require a massive effort to get anything from an extremely tough opponent.
