‘Without a doubt,’ King expects one of Tottenham’s two senior midfielders to be sold

Bryan King believes Tottenham will sell either Pape Matar Sarr or Yves Bissouma if Real Betis midfielder Johnny Cardoso is acquired

The former Tottenham Hotspur scout believes Ange Postecoglou’s squad lacks a natural holding midfielder.

According to Estadio Deportivo (30 October), Cardoso is expected to join Tottenham unless Atletico Madrid moves forward.

As previously reported by Fabrizio Romano via X (30 August), Tottenham agreed on a priority option with Real Betis to sign Cardoso as part of the transaction that saw Giovani Lo Celso join the La Liga club.

However, King, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, believes that space will need to be made for the Americans.

“Looking at the team right now, I’m still trying to figure out who the holding midfielder is. Everyone appears to desire to move forward.

“If this player can bring some quality and authority to the midfield and is performing well in Spain, Spurs may have done well.”

“Should he be brought in, I think either Bissouma or Sarr will be moved on, without any doubt.”

Tottenham to trade Pape Matar Sarr or Yves Bissouma and sign Johnny Cardoso?

Despite John Wenham’s fears, Cardoso has continued to perform well for Betis this season. Therefore, Spurs would be prudent to sign the midfielder, especially since he is exactly the type of player they are lacking.

However, with so many midfielders on the books, it would make sense for one to be moved on should Cardoso end up in North London.

Who that should has to be decided by Postecoglou.

Tottenham to bring back a familiar figure to replace Timo Werner; Manchester United is also intrigued.

Tottenham are desperate to bring back Marcus Edwards, but face competition from Manchester United

Timo Werner promptly returned to Tottenham Hotspur after spending the second half of last season on loan at White Hart Lane, signing a new loan deal with a buy option from RB Leipzig. However, the Germany international has been forced to play a restricted part for the team this season.

Werner’s long-term future appears to be somewhere other than north London. Due to his uneven and unproductive performances, the 28-year-old is expected to return to RB Leipzig at the end of the season rather than joining Ange Postecoglou’s group at Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou appears to have set his sights on signing a new attacker rather than sticking with Werner, with the Lilywhites actively looking for alternatives. The north Londoners are seriously considering the market to bring in an attack-minded winger who can play on either flank, which might lead to Werner leaving the club this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards has emerged as a Tottenham target, but the club will face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United. This is because Ruben Amorim has been named as Manchester United’s new head coach, and the Portuguese strategist is eager to bring the former Spurs academy prospect to Old Trafford.

Marcus Edwards was unable to get into Tottenham’s senior squad, and when he moved for Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2019, Spurs maintained 50% of his economic rights. The quick-footed winger joined Sporting CP in 2022, although the north Londoners kept commercial rights to the player.

The defender acknowledges that when he learned Spurs wanted him, he “cried.”

When he found out that he would be joining a team of Tottenham’s caliber, one Lilywhite player admitted that he became emotional

The redemption of a Spurs player

Given that Ange Postecoglou had sent Djed Spence out on loan as soon as he walked through the door last year, many would have anticipated that he would be among the first players to depart the club before the summer.

However, the 24-year-old saved his Tottenham career by winning over the Australian and his coaching staff. He hasn’t missed a single opportunity this season.

Earlier this month, the full-back signed a new contract that would keep him employed until 2028 as a reward.

Djed Spence’s admission regarding the Spurs transfer
When he first moved from Riverside Stadium to N17 in 2022, the former Middlesbrough player has now shared his feelings.

Even though things at Tottenham haven’t always gone as planned, the Englishman acknowledged that he is excited for what lies ahead.

When you reach a major career milestone, like signing with a team the magnitude of Tottenham, it seems like all of your hard work has paid off, but I was crying with happiness.

“To sum up my time here, it has been challenging, but I feel like the best is still to come and I’m by no means done.”

Spence’s lofty goals

Due to Tottenham’s dearth of indigenous and club-trained players, Postecoglou was compelled to leave the full-back out of the Europa League group stages squad, which has resulted in him not getting additional playing time this season.

With his sights set on taking home trophies, Spence is undoubtedly highly ambitious about what he and his colleagues can accomplish this season.

“Obviously, my goal is to win something,” the defender continued. I want to win something here since that’s the manager’s and the team’s objective.

“You never say no to anything, and as long as you’re in the competition, you always have a chance to win, whether it’s the Carabao Cup, Premier League, FA Cup, or Europa League.”
