Tottenham are desperate to bring back Marcus Edwards, but face competition from Manchester United

Werner’s long-term future appears to be somewhere other than north London. Due to his uneven and unproductive performances, the 28-year-old is expected to return to RB Leipzig at the end of the season rather than joining Ange Postecoglou’s group at Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou appears to have set his sights on signing a new attacker rather than sticking with Werner, with the Lilywhites actively looking for alternatives. The north Londoners are seriously considering the market to bring in an attack-minded winger who can play on either flank, which might lead to Werner leaving the club this summer.

According to TEAMtalk, Sporting CP winger Marcus Edwards has emerged as a Tottenham target, but the club will face competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United. This is because Ruben Amorim has been named as Manchester United’s new head coach, and the Portuguese strategist is eager to bring the former Spurs academy prospect to Old Trafford.

Marcus Edwards was unable to get into Tottenham’s senior squad, and when he moved for Portuguese club Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2019, Spurs maintained 50% of his economic rights. The quick-footed winger joined Sporting CP in 2022, although the north Londoners kept commercial rights to the player.
