Elena Rybakina has stated that she would be working with Goran Ivanisevic in 2025, his first coaching position since splitting with Novak Djokovic earlier this year
Rybakina has not participated since withdrawing from her second round match at the US Open due to injury, and she recently parted with long-time coach Stefano Vukov.
The former Wimbledon champion is returning to compete in the WTA Finals in Riyadh and has attempted to dispel any rumors regarding her breakup from Vukov.
“For me, it was critical to improve, and with the assistance of the agents, we linked and simply decided to begin working. Of course, it is a major change, but I believe it will be a positive one.”
Ivanisevic has been coaching since his divorce from Djokovic in March of this year, after the two won nine Grand Slam titles together in four years.
The 53-year-old has previously coached Marin Cilic, Tomas Berdych, and Milos Raonic, and he appears enthusiastic about his maiden WTA Tour appearance.
“Excited to be back on tour,” Ivanisevic stated on Instagram. “It’s time for some WTA action. I’m delighted to join your team, Elena Rybakina.”
Rybakina will compete in the year-end WTA Finals, beginning with her opening round-robin match against Jasmine Paolini tomorrow.
