Kris Boyd launched an ugly diatribe against former Rangers chairman Dave King following the 2-1 loss to Aberdeen on Wednesday, October 30
Jimmy Thelin effectively ruined the Gers’ aspirations of winning the Scottish Premiership this season, as his Aberdeen team opened up a nine-point lead, with Shayden Morris striking the final nail in the coffin at Pittodrie.
King has been vocal in his scathing criticism of the Gers board [Rangers Review] since John Bennett resigned as chairman due to medical reasons, and Boyd expects the shareholder to push his agenda once more in the wake of the heartbreaking loss, writing for the Scottish Sun [31 October], but believes it is too little, too late.
He writes in the Scottish Sun [31 October]: “I feel sorry for John Gilligan, who has stepped up as acting chairman. He’s a true Rangers man and he’ll be hurting at this unfortunate situation.”
While Clement remains the center of attention as his time at the helm of the Gers appears to be coming to an end, the board is now in no position to make such significant changes.
Furthermore, if the club is still without a chairman, how can they be trusted to choose an appropriate successor for the Belgian if Rangers are forced to fire him?
If the side loses to Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday [3 November], Clement will almost certainly be made to pack his bags. The Light Blues remain the overwhelming favourites for the encounter at Parkhead. However, the same was the situation against Kilmarnock, and the supporters all know how wonderfully that match ended out.
If the team loses to Motherwell in the Scottish League Cup on Sunday [November 3], Clement will undoubtedly be instructed to pack his bags. The Light Blues are still the clear favorites for the encounter at Parkhead, but the supporters are well aware of how well that game went against Kilmarnock.
All prospect of a title challenge this year has vanished, and we are only in November. As a result, Clement will eventually have to pay the price for the melancholy that has descended upon Ibrox, where there is no obvious way out of the circus that has developed throughout the season.
There is still a remote chance of saving the season by securing a Scottish League Cup final match for the fans to look forward to, and King will undoubtedly be watching with great anticipation as he speaks out about the defeat to Aberdeen in the days ahead.
