Manchester City moved closer to winning a record-breaking fourth consecutive Premier League title on Tuesday by defeating Tottenham 2-0.

City had failed to score in any of their previous five visits to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but an Erling Haaland brace gave Pep Guardiola’s side a valuable victory.

City are now two points ahead of championship contenders Arsenal, meaning a victory over West Ham on the last day will secure the title.

Guardiola’s side struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, making for a generally uncomfortable night.

Haaland broke the deadlock just after halftime when he knocked in Kevin de Bruyne’s cross, before converting an injury-time penalty to seal the victory.

Moments later, City came dangerously close to losing the game when Son Heung-Min raced through on goal, but substitute goalkeeper Stefan Ortega made an excellent save.

The image of Guardiola descending to the ground will undoubtedly become a meme for years.

The Argentina international collided with City goalkeeper Ederson in the second half, prompting the Brazilian’s withdrawal with a suspected concussion.

At the final whistle, Guardiola had a heated conversation with Romero, with the manager pressing him in the chest and the defender giggling in response.

The interaction appeared to be amicable, raising concerns among some Spurs fans that the City manager was seeking to poach their star.

“Now that everything is done. Pep does not even dare. “He’s going nowhere,” one fan said on X.

Another replied, “Stay away, he’s ours,” and a 0.33 fan said, “Lifetime contract please, I love this guy too much.”

City struggled to establish their flow in the first half, but just after halftime, Erling Haaland tapped in a Kevin de Bruyne ball to give the visitors the lead.

Shortly later, the couple were removed from their seats after other fans reported them to stewards.

Two persons who celebrated City’s score in the home game wearing (old, blue) Spurs shirts are expelled after many fans (one in particular) get involved.

when City weathered a Tottenham offensive, Haaland scored his second goal of the game from the penalty spot when Jeremy Doku was felled by former City player Pedro Porro.

Moments before, Stefan Ortega saved Son Heung-Min’s one-on-one effort, denying him a guilt-edged opportunity to equalise.
