Exclusive: Following a significant Alonso blow, two managers will be interviewed by Liverpool

Football Insider has been informed by insiders that Liverpool is considering shortlisting Julian Nagelsmann and Ruben Amorim as possible successors to Jurgen Klopp.

Amorim, the manager of Sporting Lison, and Nagelsmann, the manager of the German national team, are rumored to be on the Reds’ shortlist of prospective new managers, along with current first-choice Xabi Alonso.

Amorim, 39, has caught Liverpool’s attention due to his exceptional team development in recent seasons and Sporting’s stellar performance.

They have a game in hand over second-place Benfica in the Portuguese top flight and are now one point ahead in the Europa League quarterfinals.

Amorim is anticipated to interview for the Liverpool position, and Nagelsmann is probably going to talk to the team as well.

Liverpool is keeping an eye on Julian Nagelsmann and Ruben Amorim.
Nagelsmann was fired from his last club, Bayern, in March of last year, just before taking on the highly sought-after task of managing his native nation.

His contract expires after the European Championships this summer, but one possible problem is that he wouldn’t be able to manage preseason training until July at any club.

Ange Postecoglou, the manager of Tottenham, was also considered as a possible replacement, but insiders have told Football Insider (4 March) that Liverpool has viewed him as an impossible choice and that he will refuse any offers to leave this summer.

Although he is not as highly regarded as Alonso, Nagelsmann, or Amorim, Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi has also been given consideration.

Following their contentious 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on the road on Saturday, Liverpool now leads the Premier League standings (2 March).

On Thursday night, March 7, they will next play Sparta Praha in the Europa League final 16.
