Perplexed’… Alan Stubbs says Celtic have spent £3m on a signing that just doesn’t make sense

Celtic’s signing coverage has usually been scrutinised for as long as I can remember. The solely two seasons I think the place the followers have been happy have been Martin O’Neill and Ange Postecoglou’s first seasons.

Signings like Chris Sutton, Alan Thompson, Didier Agathe and Neil Lennon in season 2000/01 helped Celtic to their first home treble due to the fact the Jock Stein generation under O’Neill.

As for Ange, Kyogo Furuhashi, Matt O’Riley, Reo Hatate and Daizen Maeda were pivotal in ousting Rangers from their one season of domination to choosing up 5 out of six trophies such as the historical eighth treble in Celtic’s history.

Recruitment is key, and what has been proven this season is that Celtic have received it completely wrong.

Too many gamers signed in the summer have been located wanting and of the two recruited in January, one that Celtic signed has left Alan Stubbs scratching his head.

The former Celtic defender used to be going for walks the rule over Celtic’s bench in opposition to Kilmarnock when he admitted that the purchase of Nicolas Kuhn has left him confused.

Stubbs stated [PLZ Soccer], “If Celtic have their fine XI on the pitch then it’s a specific story but they have to go with what they’ve got.

“Just look at their bench from Saturday – Oh, Kuhn, Bernardo, Bernabei – and I’m now not certain whether they’re players who can take them to the subsequent level.

“I’ve been perplexed with some of the signings and this should be the bit that bites them on the backside in terms of their recruitment coverage over the previous 18 months due to the fact Ange has gone.”

Celtic’s bad recruitment has already proved costly

Stubbs makes a precise point in saying that the signings made will come returned and bite Celtic. It’s no longer a case of if, it already has.

Knocked out of the League Cup by way of Kilmarnock andsurrendering a healthy lead at the pinnacle of theScottish Premiership, Celtic’s recruitment method has already proved costly.

The players bought in the summer time have had little to no impact at the membership (possibly with the exception of Luis Palma) and even as it’s too early to make a name on Adam Idah and Nicolas Kuhn, the early signs are is that the jury is still out on them both.

Brendan Rodgers needs to get his crew doing their speaking on the park now. The are the reigning Scottish champions but if they are no longer careful there is a very actual hazard that they should end this season trophyless.
