This winter, Tottenham Hotspur are not wasting time in the transfer market and are reportedly planning to sign a brand-new defender before the January window even opens
After winning just one of their previous five Premier League games, Ange Postecoglou’s team won again on Sunday against Newcastle United.
Injuries have plagued the north London club recently, forcing Postecoglou to use Ben Davies and Emerson Romero, both fullbacks, at center back.
Spurs are reportedly close to signing Genoa center back Radu Dragusin to avoid a situation like this in the future. This would send a clear signal to Arsenal and the rest of the Premier League that they intend to complete their business quickly.
Fanatik, a publication based in Romania, claims that the player is “very close” to signing with Tottenham for €30 million.
Florin Manea, Draguskin’s agent, has since revealed that there are “good signs” in the negotiations.
“I met them [Tottenham] in London a few days ago,” he stated via Fanatik. They are also at the Genoa-Juventus match, which will take place where I am right now. Look, there are encouraging signs.
The people there want to move him. Genoa’s extension was not signed by him. It does not appear to be an extension.
Manea added, referring to the price Tottenham would have to pay to sign him: Around €30 million or €32m, we are right there. What I see is this.
He represents Romanian football, so this is a blow to the sport. I hope, like other players, that the big teams will notice us. There are a lot of clubs at the match, so this is not a final decision.
“We are here to discuss, but we don’t know if Genoa will agree to let him go now. For half a year, no one will pay $30 million to play at Genoa, in my opinion.
He went on to say: We are calm, and he is focusing on the pride-filled match with Juventus. It’s a decent circumstance, he’s being sought, he’s likewise contemplating the public group, we’re pondering his vocation.
“Someone called me yesterday and asked me if he was going there and not playing. Having players in strong teams is a good moment—I hope it’s the only moment—when we start to grow again. However, a lot will also depend on how they develop during the European Championship.
“It is important for us that Radu aspires to reach the Premier League. He has an excellent manager, and he will pay him well. I am unable to provide figures, but it is significantly higher than what he earns at Genoa.”
Moreover, Draguskin affirmed his craving to play in the Head Association as of late, expressing: ” I will grow and develop to my fullest potential there.
“When the time is right, I will make the decision, but right now we have more important things to do than this,” says the decision-maker. Market share does not motivate me in any way. That is the responsibility of specialists; it has no bearing on me.”
He also explained that he has been compared to Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk in terms of how he plays.
“There are many tales, however there isn’t anything composed,” he said. ” I never had a hero or role model. I noticed that I looked like Van Dijk, but I don’t have a hero.

Tottenham are about to break their transfer record for a superb Premier League player as Postecoglou devastates West Ham’s plans.
Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou is reportedly pressuring the club to make a firm bid for Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha, despite the fact that any transfer is anticipated to set a new club record fee
After joining Spurs from Celtic earlier this summer, the Greek-born Australian officially starts his new role as manager today. But the 57-year-old is already in charge, having a voice in the club’s early summer transfer negotiations.
Spurs, on the other hand, are far from done this summer and want to pursue Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven next. To that goal, chairman Daniel Levy has initiated ‘direct conversations’ with Fabrizio Romano, who claims he is “keen” on the transfer.
Tottenham is also aiming to strengthen their center midfield. Postecoglou is also pressing Levy to approach Fulham for Palhinha, according to The Sun (July 1, page 67).
His tigerish antics in the engine room, though, drew the most attention. With 147 tackles, he was the division’s leading tackler. Moises Caicedo came in second with 100 points, demonstrating how the Portuguese was definitely in a league of his own.
This form has prompted to speculation that West Ham are interested in luring Palhinha across London to replace Declan Rice.
The Cottagers, understandably, are not eager to let Palhinha depart without a fight. Despite spending only £20 million for him a year ago, they are now said to be worth roughly £90 million.
Nonetheless, West Ham are apparently drafting a bid in the hope that a sizable offer will persuade Fulham to sell.
To that purpose, they are apparently considering a transaction much above their existing club record of £60 million paid to Everton for Richarlison.
If they are to sign, Postecoglou will need to persuade Levy to swallow some of his pride. This is due to the fact that the Portuguese star was on Tottenham‘s radar last summer. But, after passed up the chance to recruit him for £20 million, Levy will be disappointed to have to pay a far higher amount again.
Furthermore, with Palhinha turning 28 next week, Levy may well wonder how many years he has left at the top.
Spurs may fund the transaction by selling three players.
Postecoglou, on the other hand, appears to be unfazed and apparently intends to persuade Levy to launch a bid.
Furthermore, rumours say that the club is eager to sell Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is becoming a target for Atletico Madrid.
Some may be surprised by the trade, but there are concerns about whether the Dane is mobile enough to play Postecoglou‘s style.
