Sources say Mac Allister has agreed to join Liverpool after a breakthrough
Alexis MacAllister has agreed to join Liverpool from Brighton this summer, according to Football Insider sources.
The Merseysiders have reached a personal agreement with the World Cup winner, 24, and are negotiating a fee of around £60 million with the south coast club.
After bidding a tearful farewell to Brighton fans after their Premier League match at Aston Villa last Sunday, Mac Allister has decided to make a box-office move to Anfield.
Liverpool is thought to have met with Mac Allister’s representatives and agreed on a contract worth more than £150,000 per week.
The Argentina international is currently paid a reported £50,000 per week on a contract that runs until June 2025.
According to a reliable Reds source, the transfer is now “99% done” and only the formalities remain.
The agreement is set to be announced in early June.
Mac Allister is on his way, and his representatives have been laying the groundwork for a deal for months, according to Seagulls manager Roberto De Zerbi.
The Argentine was recently instrumental in Brighton achieving European qualification for the first time.
Jurgen Klopp has sanctioned a big-money Liverpool move as he plans a radical overhaul of a midfield that struggled last season.
Senior stars Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago Alcantara are all over the age of 29, while James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have already confirmed their departures.
The Reds have a “concrete interest” in Wolves captain Ruben Neves, according to Football Insider on Tuesday (23 May).
