Kovacic’s current Chelsea deal is slated to expire in the next 12 months, and contract extension talks have stalled. Chelsea midfielder Mateo Kovacic could leave in the summer.

Kovacic’s representatives, according to 90min, have travelled to England to speak with officials from Liverpool, Manchester City, and Manchester United. If a new deal is not signed quickly, CFC is prepared to sell the Croatian.

His entourage will discuss the contract with Chelsea, but meetings with other big Premier League teams have already been set. Manchester City, Liverpool, and Manchester United have all indicated interest in the 28-year-old midfielder and are keeping eyes on him.

Liverpool is currently revamping their midfield. They’re also keeping an eye on Mason Mount, whose contract talks have come to a halt. Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has long admired Kovacic’s quality, thus his availability will inevitably entice the club to enter the competition.

As they continue to explore midfield options, CFC will not be scared to spend significant money in the summer transfer window. Declan Rice has long been a Blues target, and Southampton midfielder Romeo Lavia has aroused the Blues’ interest with his impressive performances in a Southampton shirt. Borussia Monchengladbach’s Manu Kone has also been identified as a transfer target, and if Chelsea signs any of the aforementioned targets, trading Kovacic will assist fund the deal.
